Chicago’s row houses are concentrated in the older near-in neighborhoods: the Near North Side, Old Town, Lincoln Park, the Near West Side, and pockets of Bronzeville and Hyde Park.
They are narrow, deep, usually three stories, and frequently landmarked. That last point matters, because a landmark designation constrains what you can change on the facade and can lengthen a renovation timeline considerably.
